Like any program, losing quality seniors to graduation happens to the best of them.
Poly, however, graduated quite a few stars that racked up 26 wins over the past three seasons.
And they didn’t just dominate with their physical skills, they were also high quality young men.
So, wondering what you might see in the season opener Friday afternoon with the new look Panthers had area football fans intrigued.
But to no one’s surprise, coach Chris Schmoke’s Poly program played like Poly plays football.
It seems like the names have changed somewhat, but the results stay very much the same.
Poly, for their part, hammered Village Christian, 34-7, in an afternoon contest Friday at Poly.
Jackson Treister rushed for two touchdowns.
Franco Alonso, one of the area’s great all-around athletes had two receiving TD’s for the Panthers.
Trent Steele scored on defense when he scooped up a Village Christian fumble and ran it back for a touchdown.
Thomas McConnell had a sack for the Panthers.
Connor Boyle and Dylan Boyer both had interceptions on defense for Poly.
The Panthers will host La Canada next Saturday at 2.
Records: Village Christian (0-2); Poly (1-0)
