From STAFF REPORTS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

What were the chances Marshall was going to lose Wednesday afternoon after winning the first two games of the match?<\/p>\n

Add to that… Arroyo was 0-11 this season heading into Wednesday Mission League contest with the Knights.<\/p>\n

But give Arroyo credit, because they fought back from a two-game deficit to defeat Marshall, 21-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-18 and 22-20.<\/p>\n

The Loss pushes the Eagles to last place in the Mission Valley League.<\/p>\n

Samantha James missed the first couple of games, but still had 10 kills and 6 digs.<\/p>\n

Risejah Velasco added 8 kills and 9 digs.<\/p>\n

Aileen Lopez finished with 25 assists, and Claire Moats had 13 digs.<\/p>\n

Middle blocker Allison Moore had a team-best 11 kills.<\/p>\n

Marshall hosts Mountain View on Friday at 3:15<\/p>\n

Marshall coach Sang Lee:<\/strong> “That was a tough pill to swallow. We got overconfident after being up 2-0, but Arroyo never gave up and they battled hard. They started making fewer mistakes and we weren’t ready to close out the match. Arroyo was hungry because we beat them at a tournament earlier this season. Our passing was inconsistent when it really mattered, and that generated a lot of momentum for Arroyo.<\/p>\n

To close matches, we really have to hit aggressively and be mistake-free on passes, but we didn’t execute down the stretch. We have to be hungrier and not expect that wins will come naturally. That’s not who we are. We have to earn everything, and we didn’t earn the win today. We just made too many physical mistakes down the stretch, and we couldn’t overcome their momentum. We need more hunger to win and be precise with our passing. We get to play them one more time this season, so we will remember this one.”<\/p>\n
