Lacrosse is North America\u2019s oldest team sport and originated with Native American all the way back into the 1100s. Originally, the game was played with 100 to 1000 men over a field stretching 2 miles long.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1637 a French missionary saw Iroquois tribesmen playing the game and decided to call it \u201cLacrosse.\u201d In 1840 French settlers in Canada took up the game, and in 1859 it was declared Canada\u2019s national sport. By 1877 the game was being played at the collegiate level in the United States, and in the 1930s \u201cBox Lacrosse\u201d was introduced.<\/span><\/p>\n

By the 1960\u2019s plastic heads for were introduced for the crosse stick (making the game a little safer), and by 2001 the game had reached the professional heights with the introduction of Major League Lacrosse. In 2011 the Lacrosse Network was formed on<\/span> YouTube<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Pasadena area, Tribe Lacrosse is continuing to bring this game to the masses through its teaching, training, and playing of the game that is gaining popularity. Tribe Lacrosse, formerly known as Pasadena Lacrosse, was established in 2007. They offer youth Lacrosse in Northeast Los Angeles, primarily the San Gabriel Valley (Altadena, Arcadia, Glendora, La Canada, La Crescenta, Pasadena, San Marino & Sierra Madre) and the East San Fernando Valley (Burbank, Glendale & Studio City) for boys and girls, 1st through 12th grade. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
