It wasn’t the result Marshall coach Sang Lee wanted.<\/p>\n

But he couldn’t have been more proud of the effort he got from his players.<\/p>\n

Marshall trailed two games to none, fought back and won games three and four.<\/p>\n

But Arroyo edged the Eagles in a fifth and deciding set to pick up the victory.<\/p>\n

Marshall earned the win via scores of 25-13, 25-13, 23-25, 23-25 and 15-13.<\/p>\n

Marshall drops to 7-12 overall, 2-4 in Mission Valley League.<\/p>\n

Senior outside hitter Risejah Velasco finished with 16 digs and 9 kills.<\/p>\n

Freshman middle blocker Kelaiyah Johnston tallied 8 kills and 2 solo blocks.<\/p>\n

Sophomore opposite hitter Bora Lim added 15 digs and 9 assists.<\/p>\n

Sophomore setter Malia Wilson contributed 13 assists, 9 digs, and 3 kills.<\/p>\n

Senior North Steinbacher added 8 digs and sophomore outside hitter Sophia Hatum had 5 digs.<\/p>\n

Junior outside hitter Lilah Fontenot finished with 4 kills.<\/p>\n

Marshall will host Mountain View on Friday at 3:15 in another Mission Valley League match.<\/p>\n

Quotable:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marshall assistant coach Nicole Busdecker:<\/strong> “We stopped playing scared after the second set. We remembered that we knew how to play volleyball. It says something about our character that we battled back after losing the first two sets. It shows that we don’t give up.”<\/p>\n

Marshall sophomore Bora Lim:<\/strong> “At the beginning of the first set, we were out of it. The passes didn’t exactly get to the setters, and without good passes, we couldn’t get good sets to the hitters. The second set was a little bit better, but we were still not communicating. It wasn’t until the third set when the coaches and players talked it up and we got excited to win. We played the third and fourth sets a lot better with more communication, and we worked really hard to get a chance at winning. For the final set, every point was heart-stopping, but we worked for it until the end. I’m disappointed we didn’t win the game, but I’m definitely proud of my team for all their work and positivity.”<\/p>\n
