No opponent had a bigger impact on Pasadena area football programs quite like ‘Mother Nature’ on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

Muir<\/strong> hosted Burbank in a huge Pacific League game that would give the winner a leg up in second place as the season continues to wind down.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs held a 14-9 lead at the break, but just as it did for St. Francis and Maranatha, the thunder halted and then eventually ended what was a big night for all three programs.<\/p>\n

Muir got first-half TD runs from Brian Love and Jahlique Stephens to earn that five-point lead.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs and Bulldogs will continue where they left on when they meet Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at Muir.<\/p>\n

If Muir is able to hold off Burbank, they’ll be in a very strong position as they enter the final two weeks of the regular season, and they’d even have a chance to control their own destiny.<\/p>\n

Maranatha<\/strong> was locked in a 7-7 tie with Village Christian in a game being played at Burbank High School on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Minutemen still have a chance to distance themselves from the Crusaders with a victory.<\/p>\n

Their game, too, was ended, and it will be picked up this morning at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

The only difference, however, is the game will be played at Maranatha High School.<\/p>\n

Maranatha quarterback Enrique Garza threw a second-quarter TD pass to Sabien Rivera, which tied the game at 7-7.<\/p>\n

With a win this morning, Maranatha would almost certainly, and in a worst-case scenario, have second place in the Olympic League wrapped up.<\/p>\n

The reason being, the Minutemen already have a blowout victory over Valley Christian.<\/p>\n

And even if they fell to unbeaten Heritage Christian next week in the third of four scheduled league games. Maranatha finishes the season against a Whittier Christian team that has not only lost all seven games it’s played in 2018, the Heralds have been outscored 291-57.<\/p>\n

St. Francis<\/strong> claimed a 41-0 victory in their Angelus League opener against visiting Salesian.<\/p>\n

The players from both teams had just come back on the field after an extended halftime.<\/p>\n

It was homecoming night and it always adds a little extra time to the break between the second and third quarters.<\/p>\n

But before they could even get to their respective sidelines, the referees called for a 30-minute weather delay.<\/p>\n

Since the thunder was getting worse and the rain was coming down harder, coaches and athletic directors from both sides agreed they would call it a game.<\/p>\n

It made even more sense, considering St. Francis led 41-0 and Salesian had even requested a running clock from the first quarter on.<\/p>\n

Darius Perrantes threw three TD passes and Kevin Armstead rushed for three more.<\/p>\n

Tanner Tomko caught a pair of TD’s and Bryson Reeves hauled in a 35-yard TD pass, which is his seventh of the season, and fifth in the last three weeks alone.<\/p>\n

Tomko’s two scores were his sixth and seventh receiving TD’s this season, which tie the junior for the team high in receiving TD’s with Reeves.<\/p>\n
