Caltech men’s soccer’s youth impressed again despite the Beavers falling, 4-0, at Pacific Lutheran University on Monday evening.

The Lutes came out absolutely on fire and all but put the game out of reach within the first 12 minutes, over which span they notched three goals, including a brace by 2016 co-Northwest Conference leading scorer Eddie Na. The Beavers were unable even to get a shot off until the 61st minute, although they did manage to put all three efforts on goal.

Freshman Joe Coo (Glen Cove, N.Y. / Friends Acad.) made seven saves in the face of 25 total shots (11 on goal) as PLU dominated possession and kept pressure on the Caltech back line throughout the game. Combined with his six saves in the season-opening shutout victory, the rookie goalkeeper is averaging 6.5 per game on a .765 percentage.

Head Coach Phil Murray and the Beavers will look to regroup for the second match on their road trip as they face George Fox University (0-3) on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
