The Caltech defense started strong at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges but the Beavers were unable to ovecome the Sagehens in Wednesday’s men’s soccer game.

Sophomore Theo Yang (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) and freshman Gianfranco de Castro (Weston, Fla. / Cypress Bay) each accounted for one shot on goal and freshman keeper Joe Como (Glen Cove, N.Y. / Friends Acad.) anchored the Beavers in net with four saves. The Beavers did pressure the Sagehens late with all five of their corner kicks coming the second half. Meanwhile, Como and the defense held the Sagehens to just one goal in the game’s first 59 minutes.

Head Coach Phil Murray and the Beavers will look to right the ship on Saturday when they face off with California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
