Julia Macabuhay, the 2016-17 Pasadena Sports Now Girls Basketball Player of the Year is not wasting any time in asserting herself as one of the area’s most elite players.

Last week, she scored 15 in a win over Flintridge Prep on the road.

And Monday night, the Lancers’ guard scored 20 points in a 59-45 victory over Whitney in the first round of the San Marino Tournament.

La Salle used a 24-9 advantage in what turned out to be the deciding fourth quarter.

Nicole Ortiz had 11 points and Alyssa Arroyo added 10 points for the Lancers.

Skylar Uzeta came off the bench and poured in 14 for La Salle.

La Salle will be back at it tonight when tournament play continues at 6, and the Lancers will take on Glendale.

Zarah Huo added 4 points for La Salle (2-0).
