Beckman matched La Salle every step of the way Monday at the Crean Lutheran Tournament.
La Salle took a six-point lead early, and then hung on by the skin of their teeth.
The Lancers earned an 80-78 victory.
Darius Henderson led the way for La Salle.
The senior forward poured in 21 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.
Jason McDonald made five 3-point shots and finished with 19 points.
Nicky Green had 17, including four 3-point baskets.
Calen Murray added 9 points, all coming on 3-pointers.
With the six-point bulge after one quarter for La Salle, the next three periods saw the Patriots match the Lancers in the second quarter, and then scored two more points than La Salle in the third and fourth quarters.
La Salle (2-0) will face off with Fairmont Prep on Wednesday as tournament play continues for the Lancers.
