From Staff Reports

Flintridge Prep knew going into this week that a 3-game road trip in league was going to be a challenge.

Prep got by Firebaugh on Tuesday, lost a competitive battle at first-place Poly on Wednesday and ended the week with a throttling of Rio Hondo Prep.

The Rebels continue to ride the backs of Jake Althouse and Kendall Kikkawa.

Althouse scored 20 points, and Kikkawa had 11 points and 9 assists Friday in a 76-40 victory over the Kares.

“Today was definitely a great team win for us,” Althouse said. “We moved the ball on offense and everyone got involved. We truly played one of our best games of team basketball, and when we do that and make shots, we can be a very dangerous team. Today was definitely important to take care of business on the road and to get some momentum back going into the last week of the regular season. The whole team felt very well about how we played, and we got some needed confidence back.”

Mikey Tsogt had a game-best 23 points for Rio Hondo Prep.

The Rebels took a 41-20 lead into the break and there was no looking back.

Jonny Samuels has been consistent of late, and added 9 more points on Friday.

Bruce Dennis had 7, Jonathan Au 6, and both Jonathan Le and Beau Detchemendy had 5 points for Prep.

The Rebels will get back on the court Tuesday when they host Chadwick in a game that could well determine second place in the Prep League.
