Defending Champions is a way of life for Coach Brooks. Pasadena Varsity Head Coach Anthony Edward Brooks is a graduate of PHS C/O 1984. He played point guard on Varsity Basketball for three years beginning his sophomore year. Over the last 25 years Coach Brooks has been a part of the PHS Basketball dynasty. He has coached the CIF SS Championships of 1995, 2007 and 2012. When Tony was an Associate Head Coach with then Head Coach Tim Tucker, his primary responsibilities were game planning and offensive planner.

Tony credits his love for the game to beloved Coach Bill Duwe who coached PHS for 17 years. Coach Brooks is only the fifth Boys Varsity Basketball Coach in school history! Of lately, PHS has won thirteen straight Pacific League Championships and an impressive 16 of 17! Tony graduated from Cal State Bakersfield with a BS Degree in Investment Finance. Additionally he earned his Master’s in Ed. Technology from Point Loma University. CSU Bakersfield gave him a four year scholarship which translated into success. The Road Runners won their division and advanced to the Elite Eight. Tony played point guard and grew to 6-4. At PHS he averaged 18 points per game, 9 Rebounds 5 Asst. and in college 12 points per game and he played the two guard.

After CSU, Tony played basketball in China touring the Far East via the Friendship Competition Program and also played in Hong King and Singapore. He remembers many talented athletes, but one comes to mind, a 1995 student, Gordon Scott who averaged 36 points per game for PHS. As for today’s players, Donny Daniels the #1 Assistant from Gonzaga University called him today regarding a player! Finally, Tony believes his mission in life is simple, directing and teaching young-men’s life’s transitions. He Coaches, “Be a Good Son, become a strong academic student leader, develop your craft and fundamentals.”
