The Caltech Women’s Soccer hung with visiting SCIAC foe Occidental College for the game’s first 27 minutes but the Tigers proved to be too much for the Beavers on Thursday.
Sophomore keeper Megan Durney (Escondido, Calif. / Escondido Charter) made 11 saves for the Beavers, including five before the Tigers found the back of the net for the first time. Two of Occidental’s goals came on penalty kicks, including the game’s final tally. Senior forward Caroline Atyeo (Parkland, Fla. / Marjory Stoneman Douglas) registered the Beavers’ lone shot on goal.
Head Coach Taylor Houck and the Beavers will look to rebound when they travel to Reading, Penn. to take on Alvernia College next Wednesday, then to Philadelphia to face Harcum College the following Saturday as part of a two-game Eastern Pennsylvania road trip.
