Cami Martin’s new program could have allowed last week’s five-set heartbreaking loss to Poly either drag them down for a while or use it as motivation.
Martin’s squad chose the latter.
Since the setback, the Cubs have consecutive Prep League victories over Chadwick, and on Tuesday, Mayfield destroyed lowly Firebaugh, which won just 16 combined points.
Mayfield earned a 25-5, 25-2 and 25-9 victory.
Ellie Watkins had 20 assists.
Maeve Davitt added 10 digs.
Colleen Henderson, Sarah Tupy and Sarah Smith all had four kills each.
Henderson had 12 of Mayfield’s 28 aces on Tuesday.
Mayfield will travel to Rio Hondo Prep on Thursday at 4:45.
