Freshman midfielder Krystin Brown (Lake Forest, Calif. / Trabuco Hills) scored her second goal in as many games when the host Beavers took on the University of La Verne in women’s soccer action.
The goal came when Brown took possession of an initial attack from junior Madelyn Stroder (Springfield, Mo. / Greenwood Laboratory) and fired a hard, accurate and near unsaveable shot into the right side of the net. Brown, who scored the first goal in the history of Caltech Women’s Soccer, leads the team with two goals on the season. The goal was Caltech’s first against a SCIAC foe and knotted the game at 1-1 at 22:40. Brown led the Beavers with three of the team’s seven shots, two of which found a path to the net.
Junior Hana Keller (Sammamish, Wash. / Tesla STEM), sophomore Gabriella Chan (Colleyville, Texas / School for the Talented and Gifted) and freshman Netra Ravishankar (Fremont, Calif. / American) each had one shot on goal for Caltech in one of the team’s better offensive efforts of the season.
Head Coach Taylor Houck and the Beavers will turn their attention to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges when the calendar turns to October next week.
