It was an odd sight to be sure at halftime.

The 0-6 (at the time) Glendale College football team was literally jumping up and down on their way from their sidelines back to the locker room.

There were a couple of coaches taking cell phone video of the Vaqueros’ players strutting, and with glee and exuberance

And all because they were only trailing 14-7?

Well, PCC put an end to that madness.

Glendale had more players ejected in the game than points in the second half.

PCC rolled to a 38-7 victory and Glendale will cruise back home 0-7 and with a game-high 11 penalties.

The Lancers current four-game win streak is their best since 2010.

Mario Bobadilla was efficient in victory, completing 15 of 24 passes for 165 yards.

The PCC quarterback threw 2 TD passes and scored on a 1-yard run for a third TD on Saturday night.

Bobadilla connected with KJ Turner on a 1-yard TD midway through the first quarter to give the Lancers a 7-0 lead.

He’d later find Forest Fajardo from 26 yards out early in the second half to start a 24-point unanswered effort over the Vaqueros.

Fajardo, who should have earned himself more series’ on offense, had 5 catches for 51 yards and always seems to make big plays when given the chance.

Stevie Williams had another big game with a team-best 7 catches for 77 yards.

Ryan Kotey had the play of the night, when, with 5:12 to play, took an Adam Besena pass 99 yards for a TD to close out the Lancers’ scoring.

Kevin Thomas also ran over a Glendale defensive back on his way into the end zone late in the third quarter.

People on the PCC sidelines joke all the time about kicker Enrique Lozano’s thick mustache, which looks odd on a young man.

But no one questions his incredible skills with his feet.

Lozano continued to set the pace for JC kickers in the state Saturday, including a school-record 50-yard field goal on the last play of the third quarter.

Someone near the field said it best, when they claimed Lozano used ‘mustache power’ to make such a long field goal.

Guy Gibbs struggled most of the night for Glendale, and was 16 of 25 for 179 yards.

He had an 11-yard score to Randall Mincy, but then was picked off three times and was replaced by Donovan Martinez.

Martinez himself was picked once in just four pass attempts.

PCC Interceptions were made by Jared Henry, Ty Apana-Purcell, Steven Cantero and Kimani Williams.

Apana-Purcell’s pick was a team-high, as the Hawaii native has four this season.

Jasper Chavez led the defense with 7 tackles, followed by Raysean Clayton (6), and then Jshoun Wolfe, Yusef Muhammad, Tristen Chavarria and Matthew Perez all had five tackles apiece for the Lancers.

Despite the happiness, first-year coach Steven Mojarro and his staff, all of whom are doing a remarkable job, will have plenty to talk about when going over PCC’s 10 penalties for 126 yards.

The worst of that were unnecessary and mindless penalties where a Lancers player would make a stick and then celebrate or show up an opponent and get the play nullified with a 15-yard penalty.

Some of the Lancers’ “passion” as they call it could be the difference between winning and losing in a close game down the stretch.

And with the way they’re playing, every game does matter for the 2017 PCC football program.

The Lancers will travel to LA Southwest next Saturday at 6.

Quotable:

PCC coach Steven Mojarro: “The good thing is our kids played really hard and we executed the game plan. The bad thing was our penalties and we’re going to address it, and if it means we have to find other players that won’t get penalties, we might do that. We’re going to show (Jshoun Wolfe) the film and let him know Division 1 coaches will see this and he has to be able to control his passion here, but in life too.”

PCC quarterback Mario Bobadilla: “We played down to their level and that’s not our type of game (in the first half). But in the second half, we just got on each other and knew what we were capable of doing, and we corrected our mistakes.”

PCC receiver Forest Fajardo: “I feel like if I make big plays, I’ll get a lot more playing time. We boosted our confidence (later in the game) and I think we can play with anyone in the state. We’re working a lot harder at practice and that gives us confidence.”

PCC defensive back Ty Purcell: “We always come out slow to weak teams. It’s bad for us, so I try to help the team be disciplined. My job is to the quarterback of the defense, and it’s how I see myself. Competition is the same at home, but people don’t come down to Hawaii to see us. Polynesians produce a lot of athletes. I’m proud of the defense for causing turnovers, but we have to stop letting guys getting into our head.”
