From STAFF REPORTS
Poly got another balanced effort in what has been a terrific season for the Panthers program.
Each night it seems they get a new leader that steps up offensively.
On Thursday evening, it was Ella Mao and Kate Salembier, who had 9 kills apiece.
Poly defeated visiting Mayfair by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 28-26 in a battle throughout with the Monsoons from Lakewood.
Halston Harper added 6 kills.
Zoey Mao had 4 kills and 29 assists.
Ppoly (23-4) now has the challenge of its season.
The Panthers travel Saturday to take on the top-seeded Centaurs of Culver City (26-1).
Quotable:
Poly coach Steve Beerman: “Both teams were focused, intense and spirited, while playing entertaining volleyball. The gym was packed and both teams fed off the crowd. The largest separation was four points for all three games. I felt our girls competed, while always playing to win. Mayfair played a great game, but our girls were resilient and pushed back on every challenge Mayfair presented. We had a balanced attack offensively, serve-received well and put pressure on their excellent outside hitters with our block.”
