Muir started the Rose City Roundball Classic with victories over Blair and Alemany at Maranatha High School this week.

The Mustangs, though, fell to eventual tournament champion, Oak Park, 64-52, on Friday, and on Saturday night, Loyola outlasted the Mustangs, 69-65, to finish the tournament 2-2.

Point guard Tiyon Martin led the Muir offense with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals.

Nick Moore added 14 points and 5 rebounds, and Haleem Jenkins finished with 12 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

Tasson Aubry-Thomas chipped in with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

Simaine Stewart Junior added 8 points, 5 assists and 2 steals.

Hunter Woods had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Coach Simaine Stewart was a tad frustrated, because he said “when we’re playing unselfish basketball, everything is good, but when we’re not, this is what happens. We’re a good basketball team, and it’s early, so we’ll figure this out.”

Muir won’t play for 17 days and then they begin the Tarkanian Classic Tournament action on December 20 in Las Vegas.

Box Score:
Loyola: 20-16-18-15-(69)
