It’s been a solid, but frustrating season at times for Pasadena coach Jett del Mundo and his players.

The Bulldogs decimated Muir, 68-18, Friday night at Maranatha to finish the first round of Pacific League play 5-2.

PHS is 15-7 overall, which gives them a winning percentage of 68%.

The frustrating part is missed opportunities, but there should be plenty of optimism knowing they have 7 more league games ahead of them in the next three weeks.

In Pasadena’s two league losses, they’re by a combined margin of 5 points, including a 50-49 setback to undefeated Crescenta Valley, back on January 3.

PHS finished off the first round last night and got 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 steals from Kamesha Moore.

Moore also made 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.

Mariah Cathcart added 13 points and 6 assists.

Kameria Pigee chipped in 16 points and 21 rebounds.

And the ever-reliable Taurie Magee finished with 12 rebounds, 5 blocks and 3 points.

Box Score:
Muir: 4-5-5-1-(18)
PHS: 24-17-18-9-(68)

Quotable:

Pasadena coach Jett del Mundo: “As for the first half of league play, we underachieved. We will work harder in the second half to grow as a team. We’re still learning to play together. It’s important to learn how we fell short in the first half if we want to be playing our best basketball as we head into the playoffs.

Going into the second half, we want to compete for a Pacific League championship. We need to get continued growth from our underclassmen and remain a highly-ranked team in our CIF-SS division. We hope to be 100% healthy as we enter the playoffs.”
