One step closer.
Maranatha, with three games to play, remain atop the standings in the Olympic League after Tuesday’s 62-56 victory over visiting Whittier Christian.
Chris Austin led the way with 21 points and 8 rebounds.
Ahmad Harris finished with 10 points.
Whittier Christian outscored Maranatha by 5 points in the fourth quarter, but the Minutemen held the Heralds off for a huge victory.
Wes Clarkson added 9 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Xavier Ford pitched in 9 points in the victory.
Maranatha will host second-place Valley Christian on Friday night and could all but put the league championship away with a season sweep over the Crusaders.
