Marshall’s Kahlani Banks led all scorers with 16 points in the Eagles’ first round match up at Mayfield on Thursday night.
The Cubs, though, got 11 points from Trinity Gomez and 10 from Katie Tupy.
And Mayfield held off Marshall, 43-32, to advance to the second round of the CIF-SS Division 5AAA playoffs.
The Eagles got 6 points apiece from Risejah Velasco and Aude Claire Moats.
Jessie Zovak contributed 8 points for the Cubs.
Mayfield will take on California Lutheran (17-8) on Saturday night at 7.
The Hawks defeated Mesa Grande, 31-22, Thursday night, and on the road.
