Mayfield had to like its chances heading into Saturday night’s second round match up of the CIF-SS Division 5AAA playoffs.
The reason being, the Cubs had won 6 of their last 7 games.
And two nights after defeating Marshall in the first round, Mayfield earned a 48-31 victory at California Lutheran.
Marguerite Irie led the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Trinity Gomez added 10 points for the Cubs.
Mayfield will battle Santa Clara (18-6) on Wednesday and a coin flip will decide the home team.
The Saints earned a 44-37 victory over Coast Union on Saturday.
