From STAFF REPORTS
One of the great prep careers in recent memory likely came to an end on Wednesday night.
Julia Macabuhay, who averaged over 30 points per game, which is tops among any player (boys or girls) in the Pasadena and La Canada area, saw her Lancers fall just short in the CIF-SS Division 3A quarterfinals in Cypress.
Oxford Academy, the top-seeded program in CIF Division 3A, narrowly held off the visiting Lancers, 55-50, to improve to 27-1.
Macabuhay had a game-high 33 points, as well as 5 assists and 3 steals.
Austyn Masuno led the Patriots with 21 points and Sophia Chan had 10 points.
Nicole Ortiz added 10 rebounds and 5 points for La Salle.
Crystal Ramirez and Zarah Huo chipped in 4 points apiece, while Alyssa Arroyo and Brianna Antillon scored 2 points each for the Lancers.
There is still a slim hope that La Salle might get a CIF State invitation, but that is far from being certain as of yet.
The No. 1 seed will host Flintridge Prep on Saturday night after the Rebels defeated Cerritos, 60-47, in La Canada.
