Just when it looked like Pasadena might be down for the count, Alvie Castro takes over on the mound.

The Bulldogs began Pacific League play with three consecutive losses by a combined score of 19-5.

But Alvie Castro gave the Bulldogs reason for hope going forward.

The senior right hander went 6 1/3 innings, allowing just an unearned run on one hit.

Catro walked three and struck out 11 to earn the victory.

PHS out-hit Burroughs 7-1.

Aaron Corder went 3 for 3 and scored a pair of runs for the Bulldogs.

Nik Moran and Christian Zambrano had one hit apiece, and they both scored and drove in a run for PHS.

Robert Olivades had one hit and scored twice.

Moran got the final two outs of the game on 10 pitches.

PHS should get healthy quickly next week as they travel to last place Hoover (1-13, 0-3) on Tuesday, and then the Bulldogs will host the Tornadoes on Friday.
