Letterman Angel Wintercorn and transfer sophomores Angelica Lopez and Briana Hernandez were selected to the 2018 All-South Coast Conference North Division First Team by conference coaches at their season-ending meeting April 26.

Wintercorn (Temple City High product) was PCC’s ace and finished the regular season with an 11-6 record and 2.38 ERA. She struck out 108 batters in 109 innings.

Lopez, the team’s slugging third baseman from La Serna High, batted .385 with team highs on three home runs and 30 RBI along with 10 doubles. Hernandez, a leftfielder and second baseman, was an on-base weapon as she hit .388 and had a near .500 on-base percentage (.497). Hernandez, a lefty hitter from El Rancho High, knocked in 19 RBI, scored a team best 36 runs, tied for the team lead in walks with 23, and added 17 stolen bases.

Making the All-SCC Second Team were freshman leftfielder-designated player Nathalia Velasquez, who led the team in batting at .431 to go with two homers and 30 RBI (tied Lopez). Velasquez (from Birmingham Charter High) leads PCC in hits (59), doubles (12) and slugging percentage (.591). Letterman centerfielder Angel Urbina (La Mirada HS) was one of just two players from all five division teams to be named All-SCC for the second straight season. Urbina’s Second Team selection came on the heels of a .340 average, 14 RBI and stellar defense as the captain of the Lancers outfield.

All five players will be in action as Coach Monica Tantlinger’s Lancers play as the No. 12 seed in the SoCal Regional Playoffs at No. 5 Santiago Canyon College this Friday-Saturday, May 4-5 in a best-of-3-game series.
