Freshman sprinter Nora Griffith (Santa Cruz, Calif. / Santa Cruz), Caltech’s lone participant placed second among SCIAC competitors in a 400m hurdles field that included Division II and III athletes at Saturday’s Oxy Invite.
The rookie continued her string of gradual improvements in the event over the course of her debut season by dropping nearly half-a-second off her program-record time (now 1:03.40). Griffith’s program mark is now over a full second faster than the original record set nearly 40 years prior to her arrival.
Head Coach Ben Raphelson and the Beavers finish the 2018 outdoor season having scored in six events at a successful SCIAC Championship meet while claiming three program records over the course of the season, two of which belong to Griffith.
