Zane Lindeman is quite frankly a money pitcher, especially in league games and even more so in the playoffs.

Six days after going the distance at Charter Oak in the first round, Lindeman and his boys took a 60-mile ride to Lake Elsinore for a CIF-SS Division 3 quarterfinal match up with Temescal Canyon.

Lindeman scattered four hits, walked none and struck out two TC batters.

After his offense gave him an early five-run lead in the top of the first inning, the 6-foot-4 senior did the rest, and did so in an efficient 69-pitch effort.

La Salle earned a semifinal berth with their 6-0 victory and they’ll face off against the winner of today’s Bellflower-Long Beach Wilson game.

It is believed, regardless of the Bucs-Wilson victor that La Salle is likely to host the semifinal game this coming Tuesday.

The Lancers handed Diego Ramos, who entered the game with a 1.79 ERA, the loss.

Ramos surrendered six runs (four earned) on seven hits.

The Titans junior walked one and struck out six during his 107-pitch outing.

La Salle vs Temescal Canyon

Temescal Canyon’s Devlin Lindeman (no relation) accounted for two of the four hits against Zane Lindeman.

Ethan Patrick collected three hits for the second consecutive game.

EP finished 3 for 4, with a double and run scored.

Mark Daley was 1 for 3, and the Lancers’ sophomore had a sac, scored once and drove in one run.

Brennen Mace contributed one hit, he scored once and had one RBI.

James Barnard scored the fifth of five runs in the first inning, and he added an RBI and run scored.

Victor Scalzo also had one hit and an RBI in the Lancers victory.

In both of Lindeman’s postseason victories, the Lancers scored four and five first-inning runs, respectively.

Quotable:

La Salle coach Eddie McKiernan: “The boys came out early and stuck with our approach at the plate. We rallied for five (runs) in the first inning and gave Zane a nice cushion. He attacked the zone. Zane was great and his teammates were solid behind him.”

La Salle pitcher Zane Lindeman: “I don’t know what’s going on, but we are killing it in the first inning. Our guys are making it easy on me, both defensively and offensively. We’re just working really well together right now and we’re having so much fun out there. My change up and slider were my go-to pitches, and the defense did a great job when they (Temescal Canyon) put the ball in play. I’m really proud of our team and look forward to Tuesday with Landon (Smith) on the mound.

La Salle shortstop Ethan Patrick: “Zane pitched a gem. Zane has continuously been such a reliable pitcher. We got runs for him in the first and I knew he was going to shut them down. Zane just keeps balling and keeping us in games. This is a dream. I’m so excited to keep playing with all my brothers. It’s been a long season with a lot of ups and downs and it is great to see how well we are playing together.”
