Poly snapped an 8-game Pomona win streak Tuesday in the semifinal round of the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs.

The top seed looked every bit that role as Matt Queen earned his 11th win on the mound, which ties him for area best with Maranatha’s Dawson Netz.

Queen went four scoreless, and then Ryan Clayton and Franco Alonso finished off the Red Devils in the 7-1 victory at home to earn a title-game spot against Moreno Valley on either Friday or Saturday.

The Vikings (22-7) earned an 8-7 victory over visiting Silverado in the other half of the Division 6 bracket Tuesday.

CIF will determine the particulars Wednesday morning.

Queen allowed just two hits, walked a pair and struck out five.

Clayton went two innings, and he surrendered the lone run of the game on three hits.

Clayton walked three and struck out a pair.

Alonso closed out Pomona on just four pitchers in the seventh inning.

Mason McGarvey was saddled with the loss, after allowing five runs on six hits over 2 1/3 innings.

McGarvey walked three and struck out three Poly batters.

Elias Jauregui went the final 3 2/3 innings for the Red Devils and he allowed a pair of runs on four hits.

Jauregui didn’t walk a batter and struck out four.

Alonso also did his damage at the plate.

The star junior went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs.

David Mathias added two hits, a run and a pair of RBIs.

Cameron McFarlane had two hits in three at-bats, including a double, an RBI and one run scored.

Matt Queen, Trent Steele, Ryan Clayton and Joe Masters each had one hit apiece for the Panthers.
