Mayfield opened Prep League play with a three-game sweep at Rio Hondo Prep.
The Cubs defeated the Kares by scores of 25-5, 25-18 and 25-22.
Freshman Ashlinn Hurley led the way with 23 digs.
Grace Brewer had a big night with a team-high 22 kills.
Mayfield will compete in the Diamond Ranch Tournament this Saturday and the Cubs will then host Poly on Tuesday at 5:30.
