From STAFF REPORTS
Other than for Mayfield’s No. 1 singles player, Lauren Panajotovic, and the No. 2 doubles team of sisters Elise and Ashlinn Kingston, it was a solid afternoon for the Poly girls tennis program.
The Panthers won 6 of 9 matches in doubles and held a 5-4 advantage in singles.
Poly earned an 11-7 Prep League victory on Monday afternoon, and that clinched a perfect 8-0 mark in Prep League play in 2018.
As mentioned, Panajotovic went 3-0 against the three Poly singles’ players, and did so by scores of 6-3, 6-1 and 6-0.
But Poly won five of the other six singles matches played, including two wins apiece from Noelle Daves and Elisabeth Bogaard, as the Panthers’ No. 1 and No. 2 singles players, respectively.
The Kingston sisters won two of their three matches and did so by scores of 6-3 and 6-3.
Poly, however, went on to win six of the other seven doubles matches, which led the Panthers to victory.
Poly’s No. 1 doubles tandem of Tara Adarkar and Caitlyn Wu won each of their three matches.
The Prep League’s singles tournament is this Wednesday and the doubles teams from each of the schools will battle Thursday to see who represents the Prep League in the CIF-SS Individual tournament.
