Two games into the 2018-19 boys basketball season, and Poly improved to 2-0.
And the Panthers earned both victories comfortably and got out to early and sizeable leads.
After a huge first-quarter lead Tuesday in a 60-point blowout over Blair, the Panthers got out to a 20-point advantage after 8 minutes Wednesday, and they never looked back.
Poly earned the 62-37 nonleague victory over Rosemead.
Brandon Szeto scored 15 points and grabbed 3 rebounds and Trevor Shin added 11 points and 4 assists.
Nick Tu finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds and Jack Williamson contributed 7 points, 6 rebounds and a pair of assists and steals.
Dimitri Mendoza had a solid effort with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Both Michael Deschenes and Kareem Ammar had 4 points apiece and combined for 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Marc Panossian, who led the Panthers in scoring Tuesday night with 17, added 3 points in Wednesday’s win.
Poly will travel to Hoover (0-1) on Friday at 6 for a nonleague game.
