Caltech Junior Nora Griffith (Santa Cruz, Calif. / Santa Cruz) of the Caltech women’s track & field team has been named SCIAC Athlete of the Week for her contributions to the Beavers’ improvement in the distance medley relay at this weekend’s Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif.
Griffith led off with the 400m dash on a relay team that consisted of juniors Molly Crotteau (Chicago, Ill. / Walter Payton), Claire Hu (Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry M. Gunn) as well as freshman Katelyn Lee (New York City, N.Y. / Trinity). Together, the Beavers ran to a 13:05.25, just under a second faster than at last year’s event. The third-year sprinter also represented Caltech on the 4x400m relay team.
Griffith and the Beavers continue their training over the next two weeks, and will travel to the Whittier College-hosted SCIAC Multi-Dual #1 on Saturday, Mar. 7.
