Poly started the year 0-2 and not sure what to expect for the rest of the season after two rather lopsided defeats.

But coach Ryan Katsuyama has the Panthers on a roll.

Poly defeated visiting Milken of Los Angeles, Monday, 16-5, behind four goals apiece from Joe Masters and Isaac Harris.

The Panthers (7-4, 1-0) have won 7 of their last 9, and are getting contributions from their entire roster.

Diego Jamie and Alec Walsh had two goals each, and Poly got single goals from Sean Liu, Sean McTigue and Zealand McLean.

Oliver Penner had nine saves in goal for Poly, which next plays at Flintridge Prep on Friday at 3:30.

“After a slow start to the game, we took control in the second quarter after a strong counter-attack that netted us five goals,” Katsuyama said. “Our defense tallied seven steals as we were able to convert many of those into goals on the far side of the pool.”
