With just four colleges participating, the Pasadena City College men’s cross country team scored its first meet title under first-year head coach Innocent Egbunike at the Santiago Canyon Invitational on September 30. The Lancers placed five of the top 10 finishers over the 4-mile course at Irvine Regional Park.
PCC sophomore Nathan-Michael Guzman placed second overall out of 42 runners with a time of 22 minutes, 41 seconds. Only unattached runner Cristian Flores ran faster to win the race at 22:27.
Eduardo Urbina grabbed fourth (22:50) followed by Eric Bravo (23:13, sixth), Christian Alcala (23:45, seventh), and Marcelo Ramirez (23:49, eighth). Kalen Marshall and Armando Solis finished in a tie for 11th (24:09). Other Lancers participating were Jacob Reyes (25:47, 22nd), Tymel Minter (26:47, 25th), Milton Lamar (26:57, 26th), and Jeremy Alvarenga (27:01, 27th).
East Los Angeles took second, host Santiago Canyon third, and College of the Desert was fourth.
The Lancers were picked No. 14 on the most recent SoCal Regional Rankings.
