If anyone thought Poly’s five-set victory a few weeks back at Westridge was a fluke, the Panthers play continues to prove it wasn’t.
With its sweep over perennial contender, Chadwick, the Panthers moved to 5-0 in Prep League play.
This time, it was a 25-23, 30-28, 25-23 sweep over the Dolphins, behind 14 kills and 4 aces from freshman star Ella Mao.
Zoey Mao, her sister, added 7 kills and 4 aces.
Halston Harper had 6 kills, while Natalie Clark added 5 kills and 2 blocks.
Alexia Pappachan and Maddie Magee rounded out the Panthers offense with 5 kills apiece.
“I thought we played resiliently throughout the match and worked through our own adversities,” Poly coach Steve Beerman said. “Chadwick is a great team and played great despite missing their outside hitter. If will be a tougher challenge when we have to go on the road and play them again.”
Poly will host Mayfield on Friday at 3:45 as the Prep League race continues.
