Village Christian is off to its best start in seven years.
Maranatha has been held together by good coaching and by a string thanks to injuries all season.
That made for a bad match up Friday night, as the Crusaders ran past Maranatha in the Olympic League opener for both schools.
Malachi Meeks led all rushers with 133 yards and scored two running TD’s.
Rob Newhard also broke 100 yards (106) and scored three times for Village Christian, which improved to 5-1 overall, and 1-0 in league play.
Maranatha’s (2-3-1, 0-1) lone points of the night came on Alejandro Lopez’s 27-yard field goal in the second quarter.
The Minutemen will take on Whittier Christian (4-2) next Friday night at 7 at Whittier College as Olympic League play continues.
