Bosco Tech headed into its second South Catholic League game of the year with some negatives pointing their way.
First, the Tigers were coming off three consecutive losses, and had mustered just 16 total points in those games.
They hadn’t won a league game since 2012 and were allowing 30 points per game over the past few weeks.
But all that changed Friday night in Bosco’s 44-6 beatdown of St. Bernard.
Rey Castellanos was the heart of the Tigers offense again. He rushed for 197 yards on 32 carries, and scored two TDs.
Daniel Uballez rushed for three scores for coach Branden Jones.
Roman Hernandez spearheaded the Tigers defense with 9 tackles.
Bosco got out to an early 30-0 lead in the first quarter and the Tigers never looked back.
It’s third win of the season marks the most victories since 2011 and, Bosco still has at least three more games to play in the regular season.
“I am proud of the way our team bounced back from a tough league loss (last week to Vebum Dei,” Jones said. “We had a great week of practice and it parlayed into a complete game on offense, defense and special teams.”
Bosco will take on Poly (6-0) Friday night at South Pasadena High School.
