After spending five years with the University of North Carolina’s women’s soccer team, historically the most successful women’s soccer program in the NCAA, Jason Sisneros has decided to reset his focus, returning to coaching at the high school level and developing a soccer academy in Southern California. He joins Westridge as its new varsity soccer head coach.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach for the Tar Heels, Sisneros played collegiate soccer for the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash. His coaching experience spans two decades and across all levels of the game. During his time in his native Washington, he coached his teams to Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) state high school championships, as well as youth state and regional titles. He won his first state title as a coach with Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma at age 21 under the direction of his coaching mentor and Canadian Soccer Hall of Famer Tony Chursky.

“To have a coach join our soccer program from the most prestigious, winningest soccer program in the United States is unfathomable and truly wonderful. Jason’s tremendous soccer knowledge coupled with his commitment to character education will take the program to a new level,” said Athletic Director Melanie Horn.

Coach Jason Windass also shared: “The hiring of Head Coach Jason Sisneros provides Westridge an opportunity that must be seized … I look forward to watching our talented group of players take the field to play for Coach Sisneros and his coaching staff. Let’s make the most of this exciting time!”

Sisneros starts at Westridge on Monday, November 7.
