But Poly’s No. 2 and No. 3 singles players went a combined 0-6.
That proved to be costly as Temple City edged the Panthers, 10-8, in a CIF-SS Division 3 playoff match.
Haupt lost 1-6 to Temple City No. 1 Katherine Wu, but went on to defeat their No. 2 and No. 3 players, 6-2 and 6-4, respectively.
Poly doubles, on the other hand, won 6 of their 9 matches to keep the Panthers within striking distance.
No. 1 doubles team of Tara Adarker and her partner, Elizabeth Bogaard, beat Temple City’s No. 2 and No. 3 teams, 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker) and 6-1.
No. 2 Ashley Wu and Yumi Balthazar got one win.
But surprisingly, the Panthers No. 3 doubles of Caitlin Wu and Anais Gee won all three of their matches, 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker), 6-3, 6-0
