Westridge finally saw its season come to an end Saturday night in Claremont.

The Wolfpack swept the Tigers 25-16, 25-18, 25-16.

But Westridge had its best season since 2006, and the immediate future looks just as bright.

They not only won their first Prep League championship in a decade, the Tigers made it to the semifinals of the CIF-SS Division 4 playoffs.

Westridge also won a state playoff game Wednesday night, some 113 miles from Pasadena.

But that season finally came to an official end Saturday night in three games.

Allison Martinez, as she always seems to do, led Westridge with 21 kills and an ace.

Makana Meyer added six kills and six digs.

Both Meyer and Martinez are juniors, which gives the Tigers (26-7) a lot to look forward to next season.

Angelica Raymundo led Westridge with 32 assists and 14 digs.

Emilee Rohrer led Claremont with nine kills and three aces, while Simone Bliss had seven kills and three blocks. Kylie Robinson had six kills.

Westridge coach Otto Lacayo: “We played really well, but (Claremont) was just better. This season has been unconventional to say the least. We battled through a ton of adversity. Everything that was thrown our way (and there was a lot) was embraced and treated as a chance to grow. Their ability to adjust and compete consistently at a high level was nothing short of exceptional. And really, there’s only one reason we were able to be so successful: Senior leadership. We had four of the best, most mature, seniors I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching. It’s a season I’ll remember forever.”
