From Staff Reports
Darrius Henderson’s 18 points helped La Salle keep its share of the Camino Real League’s top spot with St. Anthony.
La Salle (13-8 overall, 4-1 in league) held off Bishop Amat, 53-47, in a battle of the Lancers Wednesday night at home.
Some of the varsity players, before getting dressed for their game, cheered and hugged their classmate, Myles Cecil, who announced in football coach Russell Gordon’s office Wednesday night that he was going to further his football career and education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
The players saw Cecil being interviewed on camera and watched through the glass into Coach Gordon’s office, and waited to congratulate one of the school’s most popular athletes.
The Lancers soon thereafter went out and won a big game, and made it a pretty special night for La Salle athletics.
Jason McDonald added 9 points for La Salle and Kenneth Franklin had 8.
La Salle will host St. Monica on Friday night at 7 in another CRL game.
It’s that kind of atmosphere and brotherhood that makes La Salle such a family environment for its athletic programs.
