Knowing that B heats are where the Pasadena City College men’s track and field team are best suited currently, the Lancers came up with some strong efforts at the Cerritos College Open Feb. 23-24. Four Lancers won their specific heats while the best performance was turned in by Brandon Tong in the 200 meters.
Tong finished tied for second overall with Long Beach City’s Keshawn Wright at 23.79 seconds while an unnattached racer Ahmed Obed won the event in 22.01.
Brennan Doyle won the second heat of the 800 meters in a time of 2:00.34. Doyle placed ninth overall. Marcelo Ramirez won the fourth heat in the 800 at 2:03.90, 14th best overall out of the 52 racers in the event.
Eric Bravo captured the third heat win in the 1,500 at 4:15.33 (18th overall) while Nathan-Michael Guzman took first in the 3,000 at 9:20.07 (10th overall). Bravo was second in that heat (14th, 9:31.32). Ramirez was second in the second heat of the 1,500 (15th, 4:13.88). Marcos Vergara placed second in the second heat of the 100 (11th, 12.05). Vergara placed sixth overall in the only heat of the 200 at 23.96.
