Maranatha sophomore Charles Acker had a good Saturday night.
Acker went five hitless innings, walked two and struck out 11 batters.
He also had a hit and drove in a run to lead Maranatha to an 8-0 victory over La Canada in the Frozen Ropes Tournament.
Acker struck out 11 of the 17 batters he faced.
Trevor Marrs went 3 for 4, scored a run and drove in two runs.
Max Blessinger drove in three runs, had two hits (including a double) and scored a run for the Minutemen (4-2).
Evan Chang went the final two innings, did not allow a run and struck out 3 La Canada (3-2) batters.
Chang did give up the lone La Canada hit.
Maranatha will look to get its first Olympic League victory when they travel to Whittier Christian next Friday at 3:30.
Casey Popham doubled from the Minutemen.
