Alex Cornwell took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning at first-place Village Christian on Friday afternoon.

Unfortunately for Maranatha, the Crusaders scratched one run across in the bottom of the seventh.

The Minutemen, though, struck for four eighth-inning runs and defeated Village Christian, 4-1, in eight innings.

The win allowed Maranatha to climb back into the Olympic League penthouse with Village Christian.

Dawson Netz threw a scoreless eighth and struck out one to pick up the victory.

Eddie Lopez had a huge game for Maranatha.

Lopez went 3 for 4 with a run scored and three RBIs.

Ben Guess added two hits and an RBI.

Maranatha out-hit Village Christian, 8-4.

The Minutemen will travel to Hemet today (Saturday) and take on Tahquitz at 1 p.m.
