From Staff Reports

There is no question that Flintridge Prep will be the Prep League champions, and they could very well go undefeated in league play.

The Rebels earned at least a share of the title with a three-game sweep over Rio Hondo Prep on Wednesday.

AJ Nicassio continues to lead the way.

The sophomore outside hitter and captain finished with 14 kills and 2 aces.

Jonny Samuels and Majeed Ismail added 8 kills each for the Rebels.

Leo Reilly led the defensive effort with 16 digs.

Prep (15-2 overall, 5-0 in league) has a three-game lead to play with three games remaining on their Prep League schedule.

They’ll travel to Chadwick next Thursday (April 20) at 4:30 with a chance to earn the outright championship.

“We came out of the gates on fire and playing some of the best volleyball of the year,” coach Sean Beattie said. “Every player contributed to this victory in one way or another.”

Jake Althouse added 5 kills and 2 aces.

Jonathan Au, Garrett Gaines and Bruce Dennis each had two kills for the Rebels.

“Our offense really won the game for us today,” Nicassio said. “We have so many different weapons we can use and the sets were there. Everyone did a great job.”
