It took Maranatha’s Jesse Elrod a little while to get into volleyball form after joining the team late.

The 6-foot-6 senior helped lead the Minutemen basketball program to the CIF-SS Division 1-AA finals and a berth in the state playoffs.

Maranatha lost their first nine matches this season.

But after Wednesday’s sweep over Pasadena, the Minutemen have now won three consecutive matches.

Elrod led the way with 13 kills, 11 digs and 3 aces.

Swinnie Mason added 7 kills, 17 digs and an ace in the 25-12, 25-20 and 25-21 sweep of Pasadena.

Maranatha (3-9) won’t play again for two weeks when they host Heritage Christian at 3:30.
