The Caltech women’s tennis team completed a clean sweep of of Whittier College in Saturday’s SCIAC match.

Junior Sarah Cai (Livermore, Calif. / West Lafayette Jr./Sr.) won her match in the quickest and most convincing fashion, 6-0, 6-1, at fifth singles. Fellow junior Vinci Chen (Austin, Texas / Westwood), meanwhile handled her opponent as well at sixth singles. Chen won her match, 6-1, 6-3.

Head Coach Mandy Gamble broke away from convention with her doubles pairings and came away with three wins regardless. Sophomore Kana Moriyama (Redmond, Wash. / Redmond) and junior Erin Wang (Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro) united at first doubles and earned a 9-7 victory over the top Whittier doubles team. The third doubles team of freshman Alexandra Bodrova (Russia / Kurchatovskaya School) and senior Sophia Chen (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) especially clicked as they won their match, 8-1.

Gamble and the Beavers will next participate in the Ojai Valley Tournament, set to take place this Friday Apr. 28 at Pierpoint Tennis Club.
