It’s been a rough season for the La Salle softball program.
The Lancers were 0-10 in Del Rey League play heading into Monday’s visit from St. Monica.
But on senior day, two La Salle seniors came up especially big in the Lancers’ 8-0 victory.
Chelle Encinas and Lauren Veneri are going out on a high note at home.
Encinas hit a two-run blast in the first inning and then later singled.
Encinas drove in two runs and scored twice.
Veneri also had two hits, including a single and a double.
Veneri scored twice and drove in two runs.
Sophia Sansone threw a shutout on three hits and she struck out three St. Monica batters.
Collette Allen doubled and had a sac fly.
Alyssa Arroyo singled and scored.
Bella Ortega doubled and drove in two runs.
Katrina Yuzelfpolsky and Sophia Sansone both went 1 for 3, with a single and both scored runs.
Sansone helped her own cause with an RBI.
La Salle finishes off the season at first-place Bishop Amat today at 3:15.
