Caltech men’s water polo senior Chris Bradley (Half Moon Bay, Calif. / Junipero Serra) has become the first Beaver to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team in department history.
Bradley earned his second ACWPC Honorable Mention All-America honor this past fall as he led the SCIAC in goals for the second time in his career. He racked up a program-record 393 goals over his career along with 90 assists, 114 steals, 115 exclusions drawn and 76 field blocks while compiling a 3.80 GPA as a mechanical engineering option. Co-founder and Vice President of Design for the Caltech Unmanned Aerial Vehicle club, Bradley is the only three-time All-America honoree in department history, having earned Second Team recognition in 2016 and Third Team in 2015.
CoSIDA recognizes student-athletes from each of the four NCAA divisions for their combined athletic and academic performance. The honor is one of the most prestigious in collegiate athletics. Nominees must have at least a 3.3 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status athletically and have been at the nominating institution at least one calendar year.
Bradley, who also played baseball and swam on intercollegiate teams earlier in his career, qualified each year under the At-Large program, which recognizes scholar-athletes from sports other than soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, baseball/softball and track & field/cross country.
