From Staff Reports:

Marshall knew that despite winning their first two matches of the season, this program that is being built from the ground up would be challenged each time they took the court.

After sweeps over Muir and Blair, Holy Family handed the Eagles their first loss of the season.

The Gaels earned a 25-12, 19-25, 25-12 and 25-22 victory over a feisty Marshall squad.

Samantha James led the was offensively with 15 kills.

Risejah Velasco added 12 digs.

And Aileen Lopez had 33 assists.

Marshall (2-1) will spend the end of the week in the Azusa Tournament.

Quotable:

Marshall coach Sang Lee: “Holy Family had a few very strong passers and ultimately, their ball control won the game. I actually thought it was great for us to compete against a quality opponent, and I think we got better today. We just have to learn to play aggressively at the end of each set.”
