Mayfield did what they were supposed to do on Friday.
They dominated last-place Firebaugh, 16-0, on the road in the next to last Prep League game of the 2018 season.
Mayfield is now in a position where it needs just a win Tuesday over visiting Chadwick (10-3, 8-3) in the Prep League finale to win the league championship outright.
Jaylin Domingo went all five innings in the circle, allowing three hits and no runs.
Domingo didn’t walk a batter and struck out eight batters.
She leads all Prep League pitchers in strikeouts (84) and with the low ERA of 2.94.
Domingo also helped herself at the plate, going 3 for 4 with five RBIs.
Julia Watson was 2 for 4, stole a base, scored three runs and had an RBI.
Julia Domingo finished 3 for 4 with four RBIs and three runs scored.
